6 - Bahrum's Post
I was told that Sergeant Bahrum and his men hadn't sent any reports for quite some time, and yet I found them safe and sound by the side of the road. Okay, guys, I understand that you’re probably busy with your own things, but surely it couldn’t have been too hard to let the folks living literally down the road know that you're fine, could it? Anyway, my new dwarven friends seem to have gotten themselves into a bit of a mess with the lake. Not only have they become targets of attacks from water elementals, but many members of their team are now trapped in huge ice blocks.
Freeing them isn't that hard, but the truly dangerous aspect of this place is that the elementals are running absolutely wild. If you're not careful, you might end up fighting many of them at the same time. I'll be honest, every time I released a dwarf from one of these huge ice blocks, I found myself saying 'ICE TO MEET YOU' in my best, worst Mr. Freeze impression.
A nice little detail—around the lake, I found a few places that seemed perfect for a large cat to live, and sure enough, some were indeed living there along with their cubs. It’s details like these that make World of Warcraft feel like a game that’s truly alive.
It turns out that the area was also very rich in ore. Thankfully, I had my mining gear with me. I also have herbalism gear, but... I'd rather not show it. It’s a bit... baroque.
As soon as we got the situation at the lake under control, word came that the Dark Iron Dwarves had been exploiting the chaos in Dun Morogh to prepare something sinister. The next area was literally crawling with Dark Iron spies, but thankfully, they brought a nice treasure chest with them. For me? Aw, you shouldn't have. Don’t mind if I do, dearest—don’t mind if I do.
Turns out their evil plot is an attack on the Ironforge Airfield. Oh wow. Talk about being an opportunist, huh? "Luckily", I get to ride ANOTHER gnomish invention in order to reach the Ironforge Airfield on time and warn them. Well, to be fair, this one I kinda like, looks cool in a geeky way.
Gnomish technology hasn’t failed me yet, and it’s the 'yet' that I fear the most. Because it is bound to happen eventually, and when it does, I'm not entirely convinced that all of my molecules will stay in the same place.
