Chapter 2, Part 2 - The Axis of Awful

Algaz Station appeared to be just another routine stop on my journey. It's home to a local mine where the kobolds have been causing trouble—basic Elwynn Forest level stuff. As usual, the recommended solution is straightforward: violence. I thought I'd simply bop a few heads and be on my merry way. Oh boy, was I wrong. It turns out the troggs had figured out a way to mind control their kin, enslaving them for their purposes. The troggs, once made of stone like the dwarves and still retaining rock-like characteristics, have brains that apparently both function and feel like tiny, smooth pebbles, making them susceptible to geomancy.

But the plot thickens when I discover that the mastermind behind this operation is... a gnoll?

This development is alarming, and I knew I needed to report it to Mountaineer Kadrell. However, I was soon faced with another shocking twist: the murlocs were also involved! What The Feralas was going on here? Had every minor mob from every zone decided to join the same guild?

Thankfully, someone had a plan to end all this. The naughty shortie, the lass with sass, the tiny terror of Loch Modan, my gal Cannary Caskshot herself! She confirmed the rise of an Axis of Awful and wants in on the action.

Turns out, Cannary was extremely hungover from the night before, so I had to venture out alone to collect the ingredients she needed—mainly, pheromone glands from various murlocs. Although highly suspicious, I didn’t mind much; the loch area seemed harmless enough, until—OH MY TITANS! Was that the Loch Monster?

Indeed, it was! A clear nod to the real-life Loch Ness Monster (the second reference in World of Warcraft, alongside Nessie in the Deeprun Tram), the mythical creature of the Scottish lake whose clear picture has never been captured. After gathering Cannary’s ingredients, she handed me the ULTIMATE DISGUISE KIT. With it, I blended into my surroundings with astonishing efficiency. Here’s a picture of me hiding—can you spot me?

Her plan worked like a charm. The gnoll representative, covered in murloc pheromones, was assaulted by a group of (explicitly not mentioned but implied) extremely aroused murlocs, marking the downfall of this ambitious uprising. Admittedly, I was a bit sad to see such potential quashed; this rising force could have one day rivaled the Alliance and the Horde. I’m certain that if people could play as murlocs, they would jump at the chance.

Half of Loch Modan is behind me, half still to go!
